A speech pathology assessment is important to determine if nature of a child’s communication difficulties (if any) and if therapy is required. Assessment sessions take between 1-3 hours depending on what type of testing is required and the age and attention of the child. Longer assessments will usually be carried out over several sessions.
Your speech pathologist will then prepare a written report outlining their findings and recommendations. This report can be given to other health care professionals and preschool/school teacher as necessary.
